Winter holidays have started on a very active note for the boys. Friday evening the Minimax and Aquasport teams have played a match together (see photos here) - and, at dawn, they departed as a new combined team to Oradea for the Transilvania Cup.

Ending up in the tougher group with Crisul Oradea, Viitorul Cluj and Arad was perfect for further developing the cohesion between the Minimax and Aquasport players.

The lads threw themselves into the new challenge with gusto :). They won the match against Arad (14-4), played a tight match against Cluj (where only in the last quarter Cluj managed to distance itself by 3 goals and win 4-7), and had an expected stormy match that was won by Oradea "A" team with 23-4.

This placed the newly combined team on 3rd place in the group, and 5th in the combined table of the Transilvania Cup.

Congrats all, and have a very relaxing journey home, and an even more relaxing winter holiday with lots of delicious calories :) !

Vacanța de iarnă a început foarte activ pentru băieți. Vineri seara echipele Minimax și Aquasport au jucat un meci împreună (pozele se pot vedea aici), apoi în zori au plecat spre Oradea, la Cupa Transilvania, ca o nouă echipă combinată.

Grupa mai tare, cu Crisul Oradea, Viitorul Cluj și Arad, a fost perfectă pentru dezvoltarea coeziunii între jucătorii Minimax și Aqua.

Băieții s-au aruncat cu mult gust în această încercare :). Au câștigat meciul cu Arad (14-4), au jucat un meci foarte strâns cu Clujul, echipa clujeană reușind să se distanțeze numai în ultimul sfert cu 3 goluri, câștigând 4-7. Au jucat un meci previzibil de furtunos cu Crisul, câștigat de oradeni cu 23-4.

Echipa combinată în acest fel s-a clasat pe locul trei în grupă și locul cinci pe tabela Cupei Transilvania.

Felicitări tuturor și călătorie relaxantă spre casă - și o vacanță de iarnă și mai relaxantă cu multe calorii delicioase! :)

A sráacok téli vakációja nagyon aktívan indult. Péntek este a Minimax és Aquasport játszott együtt egy meccset (fotók itt láthatóak), majd hajnalban elindultak kombinált csapatként a váradi Transzilvánia Kupára.

A nagyváradi Kőrös, a kolozsvári Viitorul és az aradi csapatokból álló csoport volt a keményebb dió, de ez ideális volt a Minimax és Aqua játékosai közötti kohézió további fejlesztésére.

A srácok jó étvággyal vetették be magukat a küzdelembe :) Arad ellen 14-4-re nyertek, a kolozsváriak egy szoros meccs után csak az utolsó negyedben sikerült felülkerekedjenek három gólos fölénnyel (4-7 volt a javukra), míg várhatóan viharos meccsen a váradiak győztek 23-4-re.

A kombinált csapat így a csoportban harmadik, a Kupa összesített táblázatán pedig ötödik helyen végzett.

Gratula mindenkinek és relax utat hazafele - és még lazább téli vakációt, sok finom kalóriával! :)

Remembering a legend ● Ne amintim de o legendă ● Egy legendára emlékezve

We are greatly saddened by the news that Gabor "Pocó" Nagy, one of the legendary personalities of local and international water polo, has passed away at the age of 82 - our most sincere condolences to the family and friends.

Born in Tirgu Mures, he was five times national water polo champion, three time national goalgetter, and national team captain (1954-'56). He was also four times national swimming champion and twice national ice hockey champion in the 1950s. He was selected for the Olympic team in 1952 and 1956, the politics of the time overshadowed his chances to participate in the 1952 Helsinki games.

Gabor emigrated to the USA in 1956, where he became triple American water polo champion and he was three times in the All-American team. He graduated at the USC (University of Southern California) in film studies, and, with his FilmCorp56 company, remained an active producer and director to the very end. One of the many memorable moments of his creative career remains the water polo film that in 1965 featured the Academy Award Winning actor Burt Lancaster as host and narrator.

We cannot forget how he kindly visited the water polo juniors in 2012 in our hometown; the very young players and everyone at the pool still remember vividly this sport legend's kindness, charm, and his wonderful anecdotes. It was characteristic of him that anyone who had the chance to meet him, even if for a short while, was left with lasting lovely impressions and fond memories of Gabor.

May God rest his soul in peace - but also, many superb matches, our beloved Gabor, in an eternal pool with all the legendary greats of the sport you loved some much and excelled so formidably in!

Am primit cu enormă tristețe vestea că Gabor "Pocó" Nagy, unul din personajele legendare ale polo-ului local și internațional, a încetat din viață la vârsta de 82 de ani. Condoleanțele noastre cele mai sincere familiei și prietenilor.

Născut în Tîrgu Mureș, a fost de cinci ori campion național de polo, de trei ori golghetter cu echipa națională și căpitan al acestuia (1954-56). Totodată a fost de patru ori campion național de înot, și de două ori campion național în hockey pe gheață în anii 1950. A fost selecționat în echipa Olimpică de polo în 1952 și 1956, cu toate că motive politice din acea vreme au împiedicat participarea dânsului la jocurile de la Helsinki.

Dânsul a emigrat în SUA în 1956, unde a devenit triplu campion național de polo și a fost de trei ori in selecționata All-American. A obținut diplomă în studii de film la USC (University of Southern California), și-a înființat propria companie de film Filmcorp56, și a fost regizor și producător activ pănâ la sfârșit. Unul din multele momente memorabile ale carierei sale creative rămâne filmul despre polo, realizat în 1965, care l-a avut pe narator pe actorul premiat cu Oscar, marele Burt Lancaster.

Nu putem să uităm că a vizitat și juniorii de polo în 2012 la bazinul din Mureș; foarte tinerii jucători și toți care au fost la bazin în acea seară au amintiri vii despre bunătatea, șarmul și anecdotele de neuitat ale acestei legende ale sportului. A fost o trăsătură caracteristică a dânsului că oricine care a avut prilejul să-l întâlnească în viață, chiar și pentru scurt timp, a rămas cu impresii și amintiri plăcute despre Gabor.

Dumnezeu să-l odihnească în pace - dar, totodată, să aibă parte de multe meciuri superbe într-un bazin etern cu toate legendele eterne ale sportului pe care ai iubit atât de mult și în care a excelat formidabil!

Mély fájdalommal értesülünk arról, hogy Nagy "Pocó" Gábor, a helyi és nemzetközi vízilabda egyik legendás személyisége, örökre eltávozott közülünk 82 évesen. Legmélyebb részvétünket szeretnénk kifejezni családjának és barátainak.

Nagy Gábor Marosvásárhelyen született, ötször vízilabda országos bajnok volt, háromszor a válogatott gólgettere, a válogatott csapatkapitánya is volt 1954-56 között. Négyszer volt úszó országos bajnok, kétszer pedig jégkorong országos bajnok az 50-es években. Az 1952-es és 1956-os vízilabda olimpiai csapatba is beválasztották, noha az akkori politikai helyzet megakadályozta Helsinkiben való részvételét.

1956-ban az Egyesült Államokban telepedett le, ahol háromszoros országos vízilabda bajnok volt, és az All American válogatott tagja volt szintén háromszor. Az USC dél-kaliforniai egyetemen filmművészet szakot végzett, és saját Filmcorp56 nevű filmcégével élete végéig aktív producer és rendező maradt. Alkotó karrierjének egyik emlékezetes pillanata az 1965-ben forgatott vízilabda film, amelynek az Oscar díjas filmlegenda, Burt Lancaster volt a narrátora.

Nem fogjuk soha elfelejteni városunk medencéjénél tett látogatását sem 2012-ben. A nagyon fiatal vízilabda játékosok, és mindazok akik jelent voltak azon az estén a medence körül, élénken emlékeznek e sportlegenda kedvességére, elbűvölő modorára és felejthetetlen anekdotáira. Egyik jellemző tulajdonsága volt Gábornak, hogy mindenki, akinek volt alkalma vele találkozni az életben még ha rövid időre is, kellemes benyomásokat és emlékeket szerzett róla.

Isten nyugosztalja - de ugyanakkor, legyen része sok csodás meccsben egy örök medencében azon sport örök legendáival, amelyet annyira szeretett és amelyben annyira kiváló volt!

Saturday, on the 6 December, the swimming competition organized by our hometown's H2O club will again gather many enthusiasts under the pressurised tent of the olympic pool at the Weekend Leisure Complex.

Water polo players will also be among the swimmers, and four very energetic :) lads from Aquasport will be in the pool's lanes this weekend: Dan Ionut, David Kiraly, David Magyari and Daniel Micliuc in alphabetic order.

Lots of success boys! - and lots of fun, too, at an exciting competition where spectators passionate about swimming are also very warmly welcome!

Sâmbătă, în data de 6 decembrie, clubul H2O din orașul nostru organizează un concurs de înot care iar va aduna mulți entuziaști sub cortul presurizat al piscinei olimpice de la Complexul Weekend.

Și jucători de polo vor fi între înotători, patru băieți foarte energici :) de la Aquasport vor concura pe pistele din bazin: Dan Ionuț, Dávid Király, Dávid Magyari și Daniel Micliuc, în ordine alfabetică.

Mult succes băieți! dar și distracție plăcută la un concurs under spectatorii pasionați de înot sunt foarte bineveniți!

Szombaton, december hatodikán, a városunk H2O klubja által szervezett úszóverseny ismét összegyűjt majd sok szenvedélyes sportolót a Víkendtelep olimpiai medencéjének sátra alatt.

Vízilabdások is ott lesznek az úszók között, az Aquasport négy energikus sráca :), névsor szerint Dan Ionuț, Király Dávid, Magyari Dávid és Daniel Micliuc is a medence sávjaiban lesznek megtalálhatóak e hétvégén.

Sok sikert fiúk! és jó szórakozást is ezen izgalmas versenyen, ahol minden úszás iránt érdeklődő nézőt is szeretettel várunk!
